Rivian R1T recovers 38,000-pound semi and trailer stuck in ice

A man has shared the moment he recovered a 38,000-pound semi and trailer stuck in ice, using his Rivian R1T.

Mylo Fowler was driving along a road in Utah, when he spotted that a LBS Semi had veered off the road, just south of Moab, Utah.

The highway had been covered in ice, but fortunately nobody had been hurt in the accident.

Stopping his car, Fowler offered to help bring the truck back to the road.

Fowler’s first attempt, shared to his YouTube channel, saw him try to pull out the truck whilst driving in his lane.

To get the job done, he connected the two vehicles with Factor 55 closed system winching.

However, this did not work and Fowler’s vehicle was dragged off-road as well.

It was then decided that the rescue required him to drive across both lanes.

Not the easiest thing to do when you’re on a busy highway, with cars and trucks constantly passing through.

After waiting a little while – and fielding questions from curious onlookers – Fowler got to work.

Rivian R1T saves the day

It turned out that this approach did the trick, as the trailer began making its way back to the main road.

Within seconds, the whole truck was back onto drive-able terrain.

The truck driver was obviously very appreciative, as he jumped out to embrace Fowler and thank him.

“The torque of the R1T is something else,” Fowler said.

Rivian R1Ts are great cars in many ways, with many hidden Easter Eggs throughout it.

As shown by Supercar Blondie’s Domi, the vehicle has Rivian logos all over it in.

There’s also a compartment just behind the door, which can fit a human inside. Domi should know as she tried it herself.

A R1T can be opened in four ways – a regular key, the Rivian app, a hotel style card key and a Rivian bracelet.
